About the event

Day 1Full Day Drive

Depart Kampala very early in the morning to avoid the City traffic Jam and take on the south-western Route to the Home of the few remaining Mountain Gorillas in the world – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga National Parks in Uganda. These two parks inhabit more than half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas on earth that’s why they are endangered species. The route to the gorilla land will take you through interesting features and changing landscapes, valleys, past savanna lands, hills, and tropical rainforests. You can’t miss out on the welcoming and smiling Ugandans as you move through the various landscapes. Make brief stops at places of interest like the Equator line for photo shots, Later continue through the winding hills and arrive at Bwindi Forest in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Lodge/ Camp.

 Day 2Gorilla Tracking

After early breakfast, get your backpacks with your cameras and packed lunch in, carry your raincoats, and with your shoes fitted with hiking boots, head to the departure point for Gorilla tracking. You will be briefed by the ranger/guide at the park on what to expect on this encounter. Later set out into the forest in search of the habituated Gorillas in their wild home. The trek itself is interesting and with luck may yield sights of other wild species that seek refuge in the forest including elephants, chimpanzees, various small antelopes, monkeys, and a variety of bird species. Your guides will identify various clues like the gorilla nests, droppings to sometimes locate the location of these gentle giants as they wander about the forest in search of a day’s meal. The trek may take just a few minutes to several hours depending on where the Gorillas are at the time of the trek. The encounter is rewarding as you get close to the gentle giants feeding, grooming while the youngsters swing from vine to vine in a delightful display. Spend an hour with the Gorillas upon location before returning to your accommodation. Time allowing, you may go for a community visit depending on which part of this vast park you will have visited. Dinner and overnight stay at Lodge/ Camp.

 Day 3Return to Kampala

Check out of your room after breakfast and depart at leisure as you head back to Kampala arriving in the evening.
